The Altrincham and District Festival will have a “rolling road closure” in place during the parade, so as the parade passes, the roads will re-open.
The parade will leave St Margaret’s road at 11am, it will then make its way down the downs, and on to Stamford New Road, this will be around 11.10.
The parade will then turn onto the Stockport Road Flyover, and pass The Old Hall at approximate 11.30.
We expect to turn at The Hare and Hounds around 11.45 and to arrive in Timperley Village for noon.
The parade will finish at our showground around 12.30.
The time are for guidance only and are very approximate and will be subject to change.

The Urban Poet – Fred Varden
Fred started writing in May 2017, and has now written almost 300 pieces of work. Known as ‘The Urban Poet’ for performance poetry he has shared his poetry in Schools, Care Homes and on local radio, and performed at festivals and open mic nights. His piece entitled ‘Tree of Hope and Peace’ was written for, and performed at Fred, at a memorial tree planting ceremony for the Arena bomb victims. He was also requested to write a poem for a Royal visit to Trafford, and reading out his poem ‘Restoration’ to HRH The Princess Royal and 150 guests on 17th January 2018. He has a self published book ‘Poetry Gold’, a fund raiser for Parkinsons UK.
June Rendell Dance Academy
June Rendell Academy of Dance is a large, friendly dance school based in Altrincham. They have an array of classes throughout the week/weekend, including ballet, tap, street and contemporary. Their students receive outstanding results for their NATD/RAD examinations and frequently perform in theatre shows and pantomimes, most recently performing at The Palace Theatre and Altrincham Garrick Playhouse.
Bowdon Rugby Male Voice Choir
Born of a conversation at the dinner to celebrate the Bowdon Rugby club’s 140th anniversary, the choir started at the end of January 2018 and meets most Monday evenings in the bar from 19:00 to 21:00. Lead by two excellent professional MDs, Adam and Josh, most of the members do not read music and had not sung previously. The repertoire is fun and varied, including “The Sloop John B” and David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World”, “I Predict a Riot”, sea shanties and “Loch Lomond”.
Waiting 4 Bob 12.35
This local guitar & violin duo learned their craft at the Thursday night Acoustic Jam and Buskers ball at Altrincham’s Old Market Tavern. Michael loves Tom Waits, and Clive plays a lot of Bob Dylan, so for their recent pro debut at the Cheshire Fest they became Waiting 4 Bob.
Zumba Altrincham meet at Broadheath Community Centre at 6.30pm on Tuesdays. This is a chance to see them in action, performing their high energy dance/fitness routines.
Rob King is a hugely talented Manchester-based singer and cabaret performer, singing an expansive repertoire of musical theatre, contemporary, pop, rock and swing. Earlier this year he sang his way to the live semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent. He is a regular and well-known performer on Manchester’s world-famous Canal Street, where he has performed on the Main Stage of Manchester Pride, fundraisers for World AIDS Day and the AXM Foundation, The Village People Weekend, and at cabaret events in venues across The Village. He has enjoyed residencies at VIA, Kiki, and most recently Oscars Bar.
Northern Lights Acoustic Duo
Lee Baylis is well known in Altrincham for his frequent performances with the Loose Change Buskers, who have raised over £300,000 for Cancer Research UK. We are delighted he is making his debut appearance at the Altrincham Festival as part of the Northern Lights Acoustic Duo.
Roxanne and the Bandits
Coming to rock the Altrincham Festival, Roxanne and the Bandits will get you singing along to your favourite rock anthems and playing your air guitar. Fronted by Dawn 'Roxanne' on vocals, the Bandits are Alex (Lead Guitar), Dave (Lead Guitar), Shaun (Bass) and Kevin (Drums). Expect classic rock, like Fleetwood Mac and Free, power ballads from Heart and the anthems of Foo Fighters and Guns n Roses. The guilty pleasures are many and varied!

Northern Souls is the workplace choir from DLA Piper’s Manchester office. About 40 work colleagues practice each week during their lunch hour. Everyone is welcome - it has become a great opportunity for people from all walks of life and from all areas of the business to work together.
Winners of an international singing competition in London, the choir are regular participants to the Halle Corporate Choir Competition held each Autumn.
Mandy is a Rising Star. She first came to notice in 2018 when she entered The Voice Kids UK – Will.I.Am said if he ever had a daughter he would want to be just like Mandy. Mandy recently performed at The Cheshire Fest 2019 the only young singer to be booked for performing on both festival days – and on both days she was asked to perform again as the closing act - which is unheard of! She has been asked to audition for a Netflix film and a new fantasy TV series but her heart lies in singing and is super excited to be singing at The Altrincham Festival.
Mandy has a new YouTube channel and would love it everybody subscribed to her channel: Mandy Scarlett Music. You can find many videos of Mandy singing on it (my current fave is Golden Slumbers – I wonder what yours will be).

We believe passionately in dance for all, and the fact that we have 2 teachers in class means we are able to offer integrated classes, allowing children with additional needs to attend with their peer groups.
Classes are available on most weekdays after school and at weekends.
We also offer after school clubs, wedding dance tuition, dance parties and discos.
Our Elite Performance Group is available to entertain at charity fund raisers, school fairs and local events.
First Class Free!
The Latecomers are an up and latecoming covers band from Manchester. We’re available for parties, weddings, pub gigs, bar mitzvahs and ritual sacrifices. We play covers from the 50s to the 00s (just) and under no circumstances should you leave a loaded buffet table unattended while we’re in the room.
The band was formed in the seventies by Chris Sievey who later went on to become Frank Sidebottom (The Timperley Bard) and died in 2010. The Freshies had a hit in 1980 with "I'm in love with the girl on Manchester Virgin Megastore Checkout Desk" With the recent media attention surrounding the Frank Sidebottom statue and subsequent successful film release about Chris (Being Frank), there has been a calling for The Freshies to do some live gigs. Barry Spencer and Rick Sarko, the two remaining members of the original lineup, have decided to respond to the call and get out and play. The current band also includes Chris Connelly and Paul Taylor.
Ideal Forgery are an unsigned Alternative Indie Band hailing from Manchester, UK. With raw vocal power, weaving lead cello lines and a gritty rhythm section, and with genre defining influences including The Courteeners, Sound Garden, Biffy Clyro, City And Colour and Dustin Tebbutt, their music entices listeners into a unique and diverse sound world.
Following the release of their ‘Debut EP’ in 2017 and several sell-out shows in Manchester’s leading music venues such as The Deaf Institute, Manchester Academy, The Ruby Lounge and Night and Day Cafe, the band released their single ‘Chase The Light’ in 2018, which saw them embark upon a tour across the UK, which concluded on the Isle of Man.
Currently in the studio working on their first album, the band is set to release a double A-side single, followed by more live dates and a subsequent UK tour in 2019
Hubster are a band formed by a group of Altrincham dads who wanted to rock out after the kids were in bed. Enjoy their eclectic mix of rock & indie classics.
Double the fun at the 2019 Altrincham Festival
This year’s Altrincham & District Festival is set to be bigger and better than ever with the event scheduled to run over two days in July, starting on Saturday 6th July 2019. For the first time since 1977 the biggest free show in Trafford will have activities running over both the Saturday and Sunday, bringing more opportunity for family fun to the people across the region and surrounding areas.
The popular grand parade will take place on the Saturday, leaving Altrincham town centre at 11am before making its way to the Beech Fields showground which will be open from 11am until 6pm. The free to enter event will have the John Collins Funfair with rides for all the family as well as high quality street food stalls and a wide selection of drinks available at the on-site bar. The double day bonanza will feature the festival’s much-loved sound stage, showcasing some of the amazing local talent in the region, across both days. A selection of stalls from local businesses and charitable good causes will display their goods and promote their services, highlighting the resources available across the region.
Plans are afoot to make the Sunday, the brand-new second day of the festival, just as entertaining.
As well as the same funfair, food and drink and sound stage, the volunteer committee are finalising the details for even more family friendly entertainment, which includes the addition of our four-legged canine friends. Watch this space for confirmed events!
We know how much the local community enjoys the arrival of the Altrincham & District Festival and come rain or shine it is always a hugely popular event. With us extending the festival over two days, we need even more pairs of hands to help us make it a tremendous success. We are looking for more volunteers to lend some time to either marshal the parade or help us on the festival showground. If you can spare some time, please get in touch with us. There’s also plenty of opportunity to enter our grand parade – the more floats the merrier! And we have lots of space for local businesses, charities or community groups to pitch a stall on our showground. Let’s make this year’s Altrincham Festival not just a day to remember, but a whole weekend to enjoy!
