The Altrincham Festival started in 1977 as part of the queen’s silver jubilee celebrations. The festival has always been run and organised by volunteers and has always been non-for-profit.
We give a chance for local good causes, charities, and businesses to showcase what they do, and we still have a traditional grand parade and encourage everyone to come and take part and get involved.
The only chance that the area now gets for a local funfair is on festival day and this has always proven to be very popular.
On Festival day, our showground is open 11am to 5pm and has free entry to many stalls and attractions.
2017 saw the Festivals 40th year as we celebrated our Ruby year, and as we come to 2018 we are changing things a little to make sure that the Altrincham Festival continues for another 40 years.
in 2019 for the first time the Altrincham and District Festival went over to a two-day event and this was a great success.
Sadly in 2020 due to Covid-19 for the first time in our history, we had to cancel the Festival.
2021 has seen the Altrincham and District Festival forced to cancel for a second year due to the Covid-19 restrictions not being lifted.

The Altrincham Festival is now a Community Interest Company and are always looking for new volunteers to come and join us and to ensure that the Altrincham Festival carries on being The Biggest FREE Show in Trafford.
